Outdoor Nationals '09 Part 3

Ok, the final installment on how Nationals went. Well, the 3rd day was hot and sticky. Ced and I woke up ready to run our races with that video 3 posts back of us flipping on the bed (great way to get pumped for a race let me tell you!) and so we headed out at about 12 and Savidge was in the process of winning the Pole Vault and Monti was at the start of winning the Triple Jump. 4x1 began to commence and we were all a little on edge. I drank down a Red Bull and powered up telling Savidge to make sure he plugged his ears when he handed off to me, otherwise he might go def from the Sonic Boom I was about to create when I went super speed. The race started, Ced had a nice hand off to Savidge, Savidge to Me, and I powered down a hard as my tired legs could carry me, yelling "FOO!" as I handed off to Zach and then screamed down the runway as he flew down landing us in 5th place with a PR time of 40.89 which ties us with the 10th fastest time ever run at APU. Needless to say, we were stoked and that gave each of us a personal point on the board.
The rest of the day was a roller coaster as everyone finished off their events and finals, Rono almost getting chased down by a half barefoot guy in the 1500, and Monti winning Triple with a 15.25m jump. It was all so amazing for the guys. In the end we won with 80 points, next highest score being 71. We left proud and ate at Macaroni Grill where some of us continually got up to watch the Lakers win, putting a bitter taste to my pork chops, but whatever.
I didn't go to sleep that night, I instead packed and hung out with various members of the team, spending most of my time watching Friends with Mandy and Queso. In the morning we got on the plane, where I slept the whole time and arrived back in California at about 11:30p with the thought that the next 8 months that I did track were in no way going to relate to jumping... sad thought but every summer has that realization.
In the seasons end my Legend has changed to (Andrew, you will like this.)
7 time All American
5 National Team Rings
4th Highest Jumper in APU History (3rd unofficially)
10th Fastest 4x1 Team
7 foot Jumper!

What a great end to a great season!
